\ \ San Francisco \ Bay Guardian, Sept 2006:

\

\ "Root Division \ has compiled an end-all, one-night-only photo exhibit: “It's Only \ Rock ’n' Roll” includes the best rock and punk pictures of the last \ 40 years. The list of photographers is impressive - rock photo \ godfather Jim Marshall will show alongside \ the infamous Jenny Lens, \ supreme master of the punk rock photo. Where would punk rock be if \ we hadn't seen Iggy Pop's rib cage? Patti Smith's possessed stage \ persona? Blondie?!?!"

\ "iconic punk documentarian Jenny Lens. If it happened between 1976 and '80, she \ took a photo of it basically...her photos captured such icons as: \ the Ramones, Patti Smith, Debby Harry, Germs, the Clash, Sex \ Pistols, Iggy Pop...the list goes on and on."

\

\ "I was \ recently honored to be able to do a collaboration with photographer \ Jenny Lens whose candid shots of the early Punk scene are amazing."
\ --Shepard Fairey/OBEY

\

\ Jenny Lens \ photographed the early punk scene and other rock legends, 1976 - \ 1980. Her photos are in the personal collection of several \ performers and their families.

\

\ Her photos \ have been in continuous publication since 1976. Spin, MOJO, Rolling \ Stone, People to all the legendary rock/punk magazines of the '70's, \ and every major record company, nearly every current punk rock \ documentary, books and magazines. Recent major punk documentaries \ (and several books) featured her photos more than any other \ photographer.

\

\ Her photos of \ the early punk scene, especially but not limited to LA, are \ re-posted on the net more than any other early punk photographer.

\

\ Her first \ solo photo book is "Before Hardcore" from Rizzoli, 2007.\ Retna, one \ of the most respected and largest rock photo agencies, handles her \ editorial/commercial licensing. Her photos will be seen in upcoming \ exhibits accompanied by her limited edition merchandising, starting \ with t-shirts.

\

\ Jenny thanks \ you from the bottom of her heart. Your support allows continuation \ of her ceaseless work to make more photos public. You ain't seen \ nothin' yet!

\

\ Life is a \ gypsy dance spreading wishes and weaving dreams.

\

\ \ \ Write Jenny!
